WRITE WHAT YOU LOVE
A Songwriting Masterclass with KHEMEIA
Ever wondered why some songs stay with you long after they end? Or how a simple idea, feeling or memory can become a song?
Join KHEMEIA for an intimate, hands-on songwriting masterclass where you’ll explore the creative process behind writing music — from listening and song structure to lyrics, melody and storytelling.
You don’t need to be an experienced songwriter. You just need curiosity, an open mind and a love for music.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Explore what makes a song work
- Turn personal ideas and experiences into lyrics
- Experiment with melody, rhythm and song structure
- Create an original song together with the group
- Sing and record the song you create
And who knows? If the song comes together the way we hope, you may even get the chance to perform it with KHEMEIA on the Suriname Jazz Festival stage.
BEFORE THE MASTERCLASS
Once your registration is confirmed, you will receive a short set of instructions and preparation materials to complete before the masterclass.
One of the things you’ll be asked to do is choose a song you love and bring along a small object that means something to you. These will become part of the creative process during the session.
